Saint Valentine

The meaning of Valentine's Day depends on who you ask. To some; the most romantic day of the year, to others, the most depressing. Personally, I have never had a depressing Valentine's. It's what you make it. Being single on Valentine's can be a blast if you want it be, and spending it with your significant other can be unforgettable. I have friends who refuse to take part in Valentine's because they say it's too commercialized and they can love their partner every day of the week regardless of a designated day.

I hear ya, but I do recall these friends taking part in Christmas-giving and receiving presents, isn't that the same thing?

Anyways, I am excited for my 2011 Valentine's either way, whether it be because of our society influencing me to spend more money for that specific day or if it's just because I chose to enjoy it. Bottom line, I am spending it with Taylor and we are going to have a blast!

If you decide your Valentine's wont be good, it wont! So go fall in love or something, you have 6 days, just kidding :) I wish you all the best this Valentine's <3

Video Almost on Trial

I would like to start fresh this year and put everything that has been bothering me out in the open. So here it goes...

Jesse McCartney - Shake. I first heard this song on the radio in 2010 and found it pretty catchy and pretty OK. Of course, I went home and youtube'd the video, thinking it's never a bad idea to catch a glimpse of JM. Wrong. This by far is the worst video of 2010.

If I see one more young male celebrity change their appearance to look like Zach Efron I am going to vomit.

I wasn't expecting amazing things, as a matter of fact I had no expectations and I was still let down to say the least. I think the budget for this video was smaller than my student budget, for one month. I know that small budget and big style is possible but this video, wow..just see for yourself

This video is a copy of my Carmen Electra Workout Strip Tease Videos but I don't feel healthier after watching it.

Jesse doesn't even like his own video girls. Also, is it really necessary to put the black booty beside the Asian girls wanna be bottom, that's just unfair!
Just because there are 3 girls of different backgrounds in this video does not mean we can all find a way to relate!

I feel so much better now, fewffff. Whaddup 2011. (I hope better music videos)

Sunday Sports or Sunday Sleeps

Sunday is fast approaching, and I'm feeling rather lazy.

Every Sunday my res holds an event called Sunday Sports, which involves its' participants to wake up around 9 am to people yelling "SUNDAY SPORTS," to then go play whatever sport was chosen for that day.

This Sunday, I will once again choose to sleep in. I love sports. But I love my sleep even more.
I always thought that Sunday was a day of relaxation and to prepare to the busy work week to come. Our floor receives these infamous points for every person that shows up on Sunday. By the end of the year points are added and the floor with the most, wins floor of the year.

I know I sound like a party pooper, but why would I care about some silly points?

I think the idea is great for those actually interested but otherwise, I can go without "points" and catch up on the sleep I didn't get during the school week.

Again, I love sports. But I love my sleep even more.

So to me, Sundays are Sunday Sleeps, no points required.

I'm the hermit, but meet my new friend

It's time, midterms are coming up next week.

This means one thing, I am officially the hermit of the floor. Some people say "I'm not floor social," but I say "I'm here for school, not floor socials, if I make friends along the way-bonus"

I found a friend just like me, his name is Bromance. He is a hermit crab, our newest edition to the apartment. Sometime I catch myself staring at him, wondering how we have so many things in common.

I don't like when people try to pick me up.

I like being fed on a regular basis.

I don't like feeling cold, and often times feel like I will die when I'm very cold. (not dramatic at all)

I like having a decorated home.

getting attention can be good, but not a necessity.

I come out of my shell when I'm comfortable.

I like wearing stylish clothing, like his zebra shell.

I like to get to know someone before opening up to them.

I also wish I was in the Caribbean.

We are two of a kind really.

We are both social introverts, is that possible? 37 dollars later, he became part of our family. He fits in well, but we have to hide him from the others. ONLY fish are allowed in res remember.

Until we can move onto bigger and better things, I have my little friend and my little room full of books I refuse to read.

The Golden Rule

'Do to others what you would like to be done to you.' I was told about the Golden Rule from a very young age, and I still live by this saying today.

A few days ago, I was on the bus with a friend when we came across a driver who did not follow this rule or think it was golden at all.

We were sitting quietly when asked, "Well, are you getting of here or what?"
Since our stop wasn't for quite some time we answered, "No, we are going back to the terminal to catch a bus to the University" (I understand that some students/young adults can be disrespectful to authority but this was not us)

The Driver went on to accuse us of making her late for all of her other stops and that we should have taken another bus. This was very frustrating and confusing to me because all of the buses in town return to the terminal and how am I the reason the bus is late for its' other stops?

I responded by saying, "We are allowed to take the bus,"
And the driver just kept saying "COME ON" (which to me seemed like the only thing she could say, since we were doing nothing wrong)

I just sat for the rest of the ride thinking about how many individuals who could take her job and enjoy their work during these economic times.  I realize that her anger wasn't directly about us, and maybe she was having a bad day, but it still was not right.

This was one of many times where I came to think about how some adults treat teenagers. I often hear our elders saying kids today aren't respectful like they were in our day, but that also makes me think.

Are adults always respectful to teenagers?

I feel that if there had been an adult step on the bus instead of me at that stop, that the driver would have never spoken to them the way she spoke to my friend and I. I may be wrong, but I somehow doubt it.

The question shouldn't be about how teens act today, it should be about what happened to The Golden Rule. It also wouldn't hurt to mention this one, 'If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

This goes for everyone.

Overtired and Ouija

All it takes is one girl and one boy...
(not like that)

The Ouija board is necessary as well. My housemates and I decided to have a haunted weekend.
In order to do it right we made sure we rented a few scary movies along with fitting in a trip to Zellers to buy a 10 dollar Ouija board.

The weekend had been hyped to the fullest. We were ready.

The fake candles were turned on (we aren't allowed "real" one's in this jail of a residence), the board was set, and the curtains were shut as we all sat in a circle, knees touching.

"We will not let any negative spirits in, only positive spirits are allowed during our game," says Kelsie, our Median.

This is how we begin every game with the Ouija. We include the same questions for each spirit,
How old are you?
Are you male or female?
When did you die?
Is there anything you want us to know?

Before this past weekend, this would have been a joke to me. Spirits, ya right. But now I'm not so sure. This went on until 3 am.

Tonight we are trying it again, this time we decided that if it actually is real it should work with the lights on, so why not give it a try?

Call me crazy, but I think I'm just overtired.

Freshman Fifteen or Thirty?

Another night, another bowl. Who would have known something so cheap, easy and unhealthy could be so good? I know what you're thinking, Kraft Dinner isn't so bad...wrong. It's so bad, but so right. I think that's why I like it so much.

I stir in my mound of margarine to replace the milk you are supposed to add since I don't like my macaroni in a soup form. Instead I prefer high fat and cholesterol...and whatever else they put in that stuff. A little ketchup never hurt anyone right? If I'm in the mood, I stir in a little. It's the classier way of eating KD, almost looks like a Rose sauce.

During the process of preparing my boxed dinner, I can tell my housemates are down for some too. Once the noodles meet the boiling water, the questions begin.

"Oh Oh, Can I have some?" or my personal fave "I'm so hungry" not even a question, actually they are waiting for me to ask them, or are they forcing me to ask? Either way, Sharing is Caring.

So, a couple bowls fill a couple tummy's, what will we look like tomorrow?
